SOUTH PORTLAND – The 18th annual all-star soccer games to represent Special Olympics Maine will be held at South Portland High School on Tuesday, August 5. Teams will present the Southern Maine Activities Association and Western Maine Conference.
Players are graduating seniors from the Class of 2008. The men’s game begins at 6 p.m., with the women at 8 p.m.
Local players are Daniel Gibson of Fryeburg; Kendhall Davis and Leah Beran of Gray-New Gloucester; Kaitlyn Moreau and Alex Jaime St. Pierre of Poland; and Cameron McKee, Will Emerson, Jessica Chamberlain and Emily St. Pierre of St. Dom’s
All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Maine, a year round athletic training and competition program for persons with intellectual disabilities of all ages. In Maine, there are over 2,500 athletes who participate in the program. Special Olympics is a non-profit International movement.
Concessions will be available. Tickets on sale at the gate for $5 each. Students are $3.
Lewiston date added to 3-on-3 hoop schedule
LEWISTON – The 3-on-3 Charity Jam will celebrate its 8th-annual event by adding a tournament at Kennedy Park on Saturday, August 9.
Brewer will host an event on August 2, with a tournament at Deering Oaks Park in Portland on August 16.

Otisfield youth soccer sign-up underway
OTISFIELD – The Town of Otisfield is now taking applications for youth soccer. Sign-up forms are available at the town office. Adults or high school students interested in coaching or assistant coaching may contact recreation director Vickie Gallant.
Coaches will contact teams with practice and game information.

Mt. Blue Area Youth Football registration
FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue Area Youth Football will hold sign-ups for the 2008 season on August 10 at Kemp Field. Registration times are 1 to 3 p.m. for kids entering grades 7 and 8, and 3 to 5 p.m. for kids going into grades 3-6. All children must register whether they already are on a team or not.
An instructional camp will be held the week of Aug. 11 at a fee of $40. Regular season practices will begin on Aug. 18 with a seasonal fee of $50. For kids participating in both, the combined fee will be $80. All equipment will be provided with the exception of cleats. MBAYF is not affilited with SAD 9 or the Town of Farmington. Oxford Hills Youth Football registration

5K and Fun Run scheduled in Dixfield
DIXFIELD – On Sunday, August 17, the day of the Dixfield Outdoor Market, there will be a One Mile Fun Run/Walk for all the young people and their companions and a 5-kilometer run/walk through town for the runners/walkers who would like to try a longer distance.
Registration is from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Dixfield Village Green (behind Bullrock). There is a registration fee of $15 on race day or $12 by pre-registration. Fun Run participants may register for $5. There will be awards for the top finishers, male and female. A water stop will be provided for the 5K participants with refreshments for all at the finish.
