LEWISTON – Captive Elements Art House will hold an artists reception featuring three artists from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29.
Sue Gatto of Lewiston captures the beauty of motherhood with painted belly casts. Sam Grant of Leeds recently published “Photography in dream, Europe through the eye of the Holga,” a two-and-a-half month journey captured through the “dream vision” lens of the Holga camera. His photos are saturated with intense colors and drift off to slightly blurred edges. Grant has also exhibited his acrylic paintings internationally while living abroad in Spain and will display these metaphysical paintings to complement his body of works.
Jeanelle Demers of Auburn, a 2008 studio art graduate of the University of Vermont, melds abstraction with the fine detail of realism to create ambiguous images based on elements of our world. Since returning to the L/A area, she has displayed her acrylic paintings, a technological series combining intuitive colors with magnified computer circuitry, most recently at She Doesn’t Like Guthries.
The exhibit will run through Sept. 26.
