LEWISTON – Lewiston Recreation Department currently still has openings for its cross country program for interested students in grades 5 through 8.
Participants will be trained in the fundamentals of cross country and focus on the benefits of long-distance running.
The eight-week program commenced Sept. 9th and will run through Oct. 23. Practices are slated for 4:30 to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday at Franklin Athletic Complex (next to Lewiston High School).
Meets will be held every Thursday. Parents will be responsible for transportation. Championship information will be provided at a later date.
Registration is $30 for Lewiston residents and $40 for non-Lewiston residents, to include a track shirt. Program Director is Kevin Russell. Head coach is Jackson White, and assistant coach is Sylvia White. Register at Lewiston Recreation Department, 65 Central Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Lewiston Rec field hockey
LEWISTON – Lewiston Recreation Department currently still has openings for girls gaes 6 to 14 in its field hockey program.
Participants will be trained in the fundamentals of field hockey. Activities include possible scrimmages with other area teams.
The six-week program starts Sunday, Sept. 14 and will run weekly through Oct. 19. Sessions will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at Franklin Athletic Complex field hockey field.
Players will need a stick, shin guards, sneakers or cleats, mouth guard, ball, eye goggles and water bottle.
Registration is $35 for Lewiston residents and $45 for non-Lewiston residents, to include a T-shirt. Program director is Monica Michaud.

Auburn YMCA field hockey
AUBURN – Registration is open for the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA field hockey program. Stop by the front desk to register. The program is open for children in grades 1 through 8. For more information, contact the YMCA at 795-4095.
