AUBURN – YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston and YWCA of Central Maine are preparing to kickoff the 2008-2009 Twin Cities Swim Team Season.

The TCST Sea Lions are a coed swim team for kids ages 5 to 18. The collaborative effort of the two organizations offers emphasis on the development of each individual in accordance with his/her abilities and desires.

Registration is now open. The Parent/Coaches Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the YMCA in Auburn.

The Parent/Coaches Meeting is an informational meeting about TCST. Parent Handbooks will be available as well the opportunity to ask questions about the program.

Bates, ‘Y’ hoop camps

AUBURN – Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will offer a point guard and post player clinic taught by Bates College men’s basketball head coach Jon Furbush.

These clinics are designed to give each point guard and post player special attention at their position.

Furbush, his coaching staff and players will run the two clinics on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bates’ Alumni Gymnasium.

The cost for each clinic is $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers and is open to boys in grades 5-8.

Softball tourney Saturday in Augusta

AUGUSTA – There will be a double-elimination men’s slow pitch softball tournament in Augusta this Saturday, Oct. 4.

A home run derby also is scheduled. ASA bats only. All at-bats begin with a 2-2 count. Early registration fee is $150. Cost is $175 on the day of the tournament, and registration ends at 8 a.m.
