LEWISTON – The 2008 state champion Lewiston Jr. Maineiacs Squirt Travel ‘B’ hockey team opened its season with a 4-2 loss to Maine Coast of Camden-Rockport and a 9-1 win over Midcoast of Brunswick.

Great up-and-down action highlighted the Maine Coast contest, with goalies from both teams making several tough saves to keep the gamne close. Lewiston tied the game early in the third period, only to see Maine Coast answer a short time later and eventually add an empty-netter. Jermoey Rancourt and Joseph Bisson scored the Lewiston goals. Kyle Welsh was the netminder.

Bisson’s three goals and three assists set the pace against Midcoast. Isaac Dube added two goals and two assists, while Rancourt chalked up a goal and a helper.

Justin Keaney, Cooper Richard and Conrad Grimmer scored a goal apiece, while Ryley Austin, Luc Dostie, Cameron Dionne and Kyle Morin registered assists. Devin Dumont was in goal for the Jr. Maineiacs.

This year’s team members are Ryley Austin, Joseph Bisson, Noah Buiniskas, Roman Dennis, Cameron Dionne, Luc Dostie, Isaac Dube, Devin Dumont, Conrad Grimmer, Justin Keaney, Bryce Leger, Kyle Morin, Jeromey Rancourt, Cooper Richard and Kyle Welsh. Mike Bisson is the head coach and is assisted by Peter Austin, Robert Dionne and Jim Lebrun.
