YARMOUTH – Fall 2007 was exciting for the North Yarmouth Academy Middle School Field Hockey team. It celebrated an undefeated season. NYA lost 10 of those players for the 2008 season, however, leaving seven returning eighth-graders and four brand new players to the game.

This year’s team had 11 players – just enough to fill all of the positions on the field with no substitutes available. The girls were asked to play in every game for all 50 minutes (with the exception of one game when NYA played with ten due to illness and twice when a player became injured and needed to come out of the game).

Despite these odds, the 2008 team was also undefeated, with 10 wins and one tie early in the season.

Returning eighth graders included Hannah Hearn of Auburn, Carly Lappas of Durham and Bailey Clock of Gray.
