LEWISTON – Amanda Scripture, a member of the Planet Cheer All Stars cheer staff, has been invited to tryout for the first-ever Team USA cheer team in Louisville, Ky.

Scripture was selected for the first round of tryouts through a nationwide video submission, which included 90 seconds of her advanced tumbling, stunting, cheer and jump skills.

The next round of tryouts is the in-person tryout phase is in December. If Amanda makes it past this phase, she will be a part of Team USA.

Team USA will compete against over 100 other teams representing a total of 40 countries in the first-ever International Cheer Union World Cup in Orlando, Fla., in April.

Team USA is sponsored by the USA Federation for the Sport of Cheerleading and will cover all Scripture’s expenses associated with the team should she make it past the next round.

Since she has to pay her way to Louisville for the in-person tryout round, Amanda is accepting donations to assist her with this effort.

Donations may be made in her name and mailed to 74 Westminster Street, Lewiston, Maine 04240.

Scripture has been tumbling since age 2 and is a five-time Maine State All Around Gymnastics Champion.

She has cheered for Planet Cheer since its inception in 2003 and has been a coach there for the past two years.

She also has been the cheering coach at Poland Regional High School, where she led the Knights to a state championship.
