AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is pleased to announce registration has opened for the Intermediate Basketball Division. The intermediate division is for boys and girls in the seventh, eighth and ninth grade. There are no practices for the teams, only games. Games are played Sunday mornings from 8 to 10 a.m. and will be held at Edward Little High School, Lewiston High School and Bates College. Tryouts for the league are Sunday, Nov. 9, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the ‘Y.’ The season will begin Sunday, Nov. 16 and continue until Sunday, Feb. 15.

University of Maine to host Youth Cheer Day

ORONO – The University of Maine cheerleaders will host the 2008 Youth Cheer Day on Saturday, Nov. 22, starting at 9 a.m. Youth from kindergarten through eighth grade will get to cheer side-by-side with the Black Bears during the final home football game versus New Hampshire.

The cheerleaders will learn several Black Bears stunts, jumps, cheers and band dances during a two-hour, pre-game clinic. Cost is $40 per person. Each cheerleader will receive a T-shirt.
