HALLOWELL – The Lewiston Demons middle school hockey team rolled to its second win of the year Sunday with an 8-1 rout of Augusta at Kennebec Ice Arena.
The Demons (2-0) jumped on top less than two minutes into the game on a goal by Tommy Lepage, Max Bolduc assisting.
Augusta momentarily tied the contest, but Lepage’s second goal, with Eric Soucy picking up an assist, gave Lewiston the lead for good.
Fourteen seconds later, Lepage returned the favor by assisting Soucy’s marker for a 3-1 Demons lead after a period.
Two early saves by Lewiston netminder Noah Hutchinson (18 saves) kept the lead at two goals, and scores by Cam Marquis (assisted by Shawn Gagnier), Kianna Turmenne (Marquis) and Marquis (Tanner Hubbard) gave the Demons a 6-1 advantage after two periods.
Lewiston cruised through the third period, getting goals from Hubbard (Gagnier/Turmenne) and Gagnier (Marquis/Bolduc) to finish off the rout. Defensively, Coleman Morency, Bolduc, Nicholas Perreault and Tyler Houde paced the Demons. Lewiston faces Waterville on Sunday.
