CARIBOU – The Maine Winter Sports Center announced today that Eileen Carey has been named Vice President.

Carey, a Leavitt Area High School graduate, will be responsible for helping develop the strategic direction of the Maine Winter Sports Center, the execution of that strategy as the leader of the staff, and liaison with the 10th Mountain and Nordic Heritage Center steering committees. She also will continue with her many coaching responsibilities.

The Maine Winter Sports Center is a charitable corporation founded in April 1999. The Company operates with ongoing grants from the Libra Foundation of Portland.

FFIM holds auction

PORTLAND – The online fly fishing website FlyfishinginMaine.com, in conjunction with the Moosehead Area Chamber of Commerce and The Maine Guide Fly Shop, is holding an online auction this month. The auction will benefit FFIM’s Grassroots Grant Program.

The organization is auctioning off a two-night stay at Kokadjo Camps, dinner for two at area restaurants and a guided float trip on the East Outlet of the Kennebec River with registered Maine guide Dan Legere. The auction package is rounded out with five dozen fly fishing flies that the winner may put to use on the river. Proceeds will benefit FFIM’s Grassroots Grant Program. Maine baseball clinic

ORONO – University of Maine baseball coach Steve Trimper will host the fourth-annual 2008 Holiday Baseball Clinic at Mahaney Dome. Maine coaches and players will run the clinic Dec. 28-30.
