AUBURN – Auburn Parks and Recreation held its annual Maine Recreation and Parks Hot Shot Competition on Wednesday at Hasty Community Center. Thirteen participants competed.
The competition consisted of five hot spots marked on the floor. Participants had three 1-minute rounds to attempt as many shots as possible. Each spot was worth a different point value according to its location on the floor. In each round participants received five extra bonus points for attempting a shot from all five spots and 10 extra bonus points for attempting two shots from all five spots. In addition, they are allowed to make two lay-ups.
First- and second-place winners will compete in Auburn on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the regional competition. Winners and runners-up will advance to the State Championship in Old Town in early March.
Winners were as follows:
Girls, age 9-10: 1. Atia Lafontaine 30.
Girls, age 11-12: 1. Kory Norcross 100.
Boys, age 11-12: 1. C.J. Jipson 110, 2. Llewellyn Jensen 104.
Boys, age 13-14: 1. Dalton Roberts 113, 2. Drew Baker 102.
