AUBURN – The Auburn Avalanche Peewee House hockey team claimed two wins and an exciting tie over the holiday break. Auburn outgunned Western Maine Wolverines, 7-4, and shut out Midcoast No. 2, 6-0, before the 5-5 deadlock with Central Maine Gold.
Tyler Couture notched the hat trick against Western Maine. Kyle Knight added two goals and an assist for Auburn, with Ryan Lavoie and Mitchell Spurr each scoring one to go with two assists. Branden Dyer chalked up three assists. Tanner Ramich also tallied an assist in support of winning goaltender Nick Hemond.
Hemond earned the shutout against Midcoast. Spurr sparked the offense with the hat trick this time. Knight, Dyer and Lavoie each lit the lamp, with Knight collecting four assists and Lavoie three.
Auburn pulled Hemond from the goal with less than a minute to play against Central Maine, and captain Knight scored with 11.5 seconds remaining in regulation for his third goal of the game. Lavoie scored twice for the Avalanche. Spurr doled out two assists, with one apiece for Knight, Lavoie and Dyer.
