LEWISTON – The Lewiston Jr. Maineiacs Squirt travel hockey team opened the new year with three decisive road victories. Lewiston breezed past Gardiner, 6-1, eked out a hard-fought, 5-3 win over Concord, N.H., and skated past the Portland Jr. Pirates, 6-2.

Cooper Richard registered two goals and an assist against Gardiner. Jeromey Rancourt also scored a pair of goals, while Justin Keaney collected a goal and two assists. Joe Bisson rounded out the scoring with a goal, while Ryley Austin and Bryce Leger each contributed an assist. Kyle Welsh was solid in net.

Two second-period goals gave Lewiston the edge over Concord. Noah Buiniskas, Richard, Luc Dostie, Austin and Bisson delivered the balanced scoring for the Juniors. Leger, Rancourt and Conrad Grimmer had the helpers. Devin Dumont was the winning netminder.

Lewiston erupted for three goals in the first period versus Portland.

Six different players lit the lamp, with Kyle Morin adding an assist to his goal. Keaney, Roman Dennis, Dostie, Leger and Austin also found the net. Bisson chalked up a pair of assists. Grimmer, Richard, rancourt and Keaney added one apiece.

Welsh and Dumont shared the goaltending duties.
