Jim Nason convincingly defeated John Simpson in three straight games for the ‘B’ title.
John Govostes defended the over-40 title, narrowly defeating Eric Medina in one of the closest matches of the day.
Guy Boisse took top honors in over-60 event, a new classification. Nason came in second.
The women’s division saw a repeat of last year’s finish, with Patty Prescott again dominating and holding off Irena Stepan.
Sebastain Taylor upset former champ John Simpson in the under-18 event, earning a narrow, best-of-five verdict.
Bhatia and Medina teamed up to retain their doubles crown by narrowly defeating challengers Landry and Rick Shea.
Attendance at the seven-hour tourney was somewhat hampered by the snowstorm, but 27 players still took part in the various events.
The next tournament will be held Jan. 24 at Bridgton Town Hall. This is an open tourney, not limited to Maine residents.
The official in charge of the state tournament was Greg Born, who has posted all results at www.ratingscentral.com.
