PITTSFIELD, N.H. (AP) – The deadly tornado that tore threw New Hampshire last summer left a new career in its wake.
Dan Schroth, a stone wall builder, lost about two acres of forest on his Pittsfield property during the July tornado. But he’s turned the loss into a new business, and is selling benches and seats made from the felled trees. He said after two decades of building meticulous stone walls, he’s enjoyed learning new skills and turning a tragedy into something positive.
The furniture, branded with the company name Tornadowood, sells for between $50 and $350, though Schroth says he’ll entertain any reasonable offers.
