The recent installation of a new bread-making process at the F. R. Lepage Bakery at a cost of about $160,000 was announced yesterday by Regis A. Lepage, president of Country Kitchen.

Lepage said the Batter Whipped bread-making process will result in complete automation of bread production methods. The baking industry’s most recent production achievement, it is virtually revolutionizing the most modern of bread-making equipment found in the average large bakery, he added.

Plans for a May 12 rally in Auburn against importing shoes are progressing rapidly, according to representatives of Shoe Workers of Maine. The anti-import rally will be held at Auburn’s Edward Little High School from 1 to 5 p.m., said Dolly Donaghy of SWM. Distribution of handbills announcing the rally to shoe workers and associated industries began Tuesday in Norway and Lewiston, with further distribution planned for this week, she said.
