BIDDEFORD – Girls from Andy Valley Gymnastics in Lewiston took first place in the team competition at the recent Level 8 State Championships.
Individually, in the 13-14 division, Sandy Ricardi finished third in all-around, uneven bars and floor exercise, second in vault and fifth in balance beam. Megan Bayles placed fourth in all-around, vault, uneven bars and balance beam and third in floor exercise. Fiona Sterling stood sixth in all-around and fifth in vault. Gabriella Rojas wound up seventh in all-around and fifth in vault and floor.
In the 15-and-up division, Dayle Jordan won the vault and placed second in all-around, uneven bars, balance beam and floor. Tiffany Levesque was third in all-around and second in vault.
The competition also was a qualifying meet for the regional championships May 2 and 3 in Milford, Conn. Ricardi, Bayles, Jordan, Levesque, Sterling and Rojas all attained the qualifying score and will represent Maine at regionals.
