PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – Police say a Maine teenager who left his fake ID at a grocery store after he was unable to buy beer with it has been fined and ordered to do community service.
The Portsmouth Herald reports 18-year-old Timothy Kelleher of York pleaded guilty in Portsmouth District Court to three misdemeanors: possession of false ID, misrepresentation of age to buy alcohol and unlawful possession of alcohol.
He has to pay nearly $1,000 and complete 30 hours of community service related to alcohol injuries or prevention to avoid additional fines.
A store clerk refused to sell Kelleher a 30-pack of beer on St. Patrick’s Day because his ID looked. Police say Kelleher swore on his way out the door and left the ID – which featured his name and photo – behind.
