SALEM, N.H. (AP) – A reward is being offered to try track down who ever stole 16 handguns from a store in Vermont. Some of the guns turned up in a trash container outside an apartment complex in Salem, N.H.

The guns and ammunition were stolen on June 1 at Barrows Trading Post in Quechee, Vermont. Eight days later, a man rummaging through the trash bin at his Salem apartment found a duffel bag containing seven handguns and ammunition. He turned them over to Salem police, who tracked them to the Vermont incident.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is offering a $2,500 reward and the Vermont store made it $3,000, with an additional $500.
