WILTON — The sunny conditions and 84 degrees in Wilton on Thursday afternoon were quite a change from the dreary, raining weather of recent days.
But it wasn’t the weather people were talking about at Wilson Pond. It was the cold water.
That didn’t stop children from swimming, as they made the best of a good day.
Most of the action was down by the stairs leading into the pond.
“It’s real cold,” Lyza Dunning, 10, of Wilton said.
Her mother, Patty Libby, kept watch on Dunning and her brother, Klay Dunning, 3, from the platform. He was standing on the stairs watching his sister and talking with Katie Conant, 4, also of Wilton. Her mother was also there keeping an eye on her children.
Conant stayed close to shore as she walked into the water and let out a high-pitched “eeee! It’s chilly,” Conant said.
