NORWAY — The Corner Place Too opens Friday at 5 a.m., less than a week after its predecessor, Dad’s Place, closed unexpectedly on Main Street.

“It’s a takeoff from where we are,” said owner Lisa Gallant, who signed a lease agreement with building owner Larry Roy this week to operate the new convenience store and deli at 26 Main St. Gallant owns the Corner Place at Nichols and High streets in Paris.

“We have quite an expansive menu,” Gallant said. The menu will include home-baked goods, hot and cold food, pizza, panini, salads and desserts, and even specialty sandwiches named after the Boston Red Sox players. Homemade soups will be available.

The Corner Place Too will also have a small seating area where the all-day breakfast menu, and lunch and dinner menu will be served. Beer and wine will be sold along with tobacco products, and eventually lottery tickets will also be sold, she said.

Additionally, Gallant said she hopes to put a bottle redemption center in the store. Gallant, who has worked in the food service business for more than 30 years since she was 15 years old, said there will be six to eight employees at the Norway store.

The store will be opened Monday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The building is owned by Larry Roy, whose family has owned and operated Dad’s Place in Mechanic Falls for some 25 years. Roy bought the Norway building in 2004 and ran it as a second Dad’s Place until November 2008 when he leased it to Linda Larrivee of New Hampshire.

Larrivee operated her business as Dad’s Place, but under a different legal entity, until last Sunday when she closed doors due to financial problems.
