Craft program
WOODSTOCK — The Whitman Memorial Library will offer a craft program for all ages from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29. The week will feature making mosaics. Beans, seeds, pasta, beads, pebbles and beach glass will be supplied, but crafters may bring their own material if desired.
Barn restoration
PARIS — The Paris Hill Historical Society will sponsor a barn restoration program at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30. Scott Hatch, a barnwright from Harrison, will speak on the restoration of post and beam barns in Maine. The recently completed 1850 era barn belonging to Mike and Janet Brogan, 57 Lincoln St., Paris Hill, will be the site of the program. Hatch completed the two-year project in 2008 and he considered the Brogan barn (the old Marble Farmstead) one of his most challenging saves. The public is invited.
Socrates meeting
WATEFORD — The Socrates Cafe will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at the Waterford Library. The topic will be “Religion: How Has It Served Humanity?” For more information, call 583-6957 or e-mail wla@waterford.lib.me.us.
Summer fair
LOVELL — A summer fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Lovell UCC, Route 5, Center Lovell. There will be gifts, baked goods, produce, flowers, fir pillows, Christmas boutique, raffle, cookbooks, fishing items and lunch.
Inside sale
WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society will hold its annual inside yard and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. There will be hot dogs, coffee and lemonade. For more information, call Betty Jones at 674-2507.
