FREDERICTON, New Brunswick (AP) — When the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers meet next week in Saint John, New Brunswick, they’ll be doing more than just talking about environmentally friendly practices. Conference organizers will use eight hybrid vehicles to shuttle the leaders and delegates around.

The new hybrid Ford Escapes are on loan from the province’s Department of Environment.

The environment and energy are among the topics up for discussion during the two days of meetings. New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham says they’ll also discuss trade issues and the flu pandemic.

He says it’s important for the premiers and governors to share information on confirmed cases of the flu and what’s being done to vaccinate the population.
