AUBURN — The Auburn Sewerage District needs to shut down a portion of Merrow Road in Auburn on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The plan is for a 12-hour shutdown from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Crews will be installing a new waste water force main across the road at the vicinity of 120 and 126 Merrow Road. The installation of the force main means traffic will not be able to pass through Merrow Road.
On the Hotel Road side of things, traffic can reach up to 120 Merrow Road, which is AC Electric. On the Minot Avenue side of things, traffic can reach up to 126 Merrow Road, which is Paychex. Construction will be focused in Merrow Road between these two addresses.
The crew is working to install a new 6-inch force main to replace an old main that has experienced several recent breaks. After the daylong shut down of Merrow Road, crews will be able to continue working along the southern shoulder of Merrow Road. Work will continue on the force main all the way down to Hotel Road. No further shutdowns are expected, but drivers should expect occasional delays due to the presence of construction equipment, and potentially 1-lane of traffic with flaggers.
The crew will be working on the project for the remainder of next week — Oct. 13-16.
