DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are planning to send a package to my son in Oregon. Where can we buy dry ice in the Rumford, Lewiston or Auburn area? Please call Mary at 364-7018. Thank you. — Mary, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots didn’t find a supplier in the Lewiston-Auburn or Rumford region. She did find three on the Internet:

• Elm Ice Co., 56 Gray Road, Falmouth, 797-5691

• Getchell Bros. Inc., 1 Union St., Brewer, 989-7335

• P. Gagnon and Son, 200 Main St., York, 384-2213

Perhaps one of these companies would sell you dry ice over the phone and mail it to you? Or there may be another supplier of which Sun Spots is unaware. Readers?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I work for the animals at the animal shelter in Lewiston. I am knitting blankets for the cats in the shelter. If you know someone who has yarn that they don’t use, please call me at 777-1593. I don’t have a car. If you could bring the yarn to me, I will pay for your gas. I am 86 years old. DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read with great interest the letter someone wrote about their new Frigidaire stove. I, too, bought a new Frigidaire stove recently. Mine does not have the convection part.

I have baked zucchini bread for years in my old stove — 350 degrees for 45 minutes (small loves). On my first attempt with the new stove I put them in for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. After the loaves cooled, I cut one and found the whole center was not cooked.

The repair man came and checked the stove and assured me that 350 degrees was really 350 degrees. Then I made a cake with the same results — uncooked center. I have thrown out cookies as well as the above items.

So now if the recipe calls for 350 degrees, I set if 375 and keep checking to make sure the item is cooked. I wish I had my old stove back! — R. Keylor, Auburn

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On behalf of the Mechanic Falls Before and After School Program, I would like to say thank you to the many people who donated items, craft tables or time for our yard sale on Oct. 17.

With your help, this yard sale was a huge success, so much so that the board of directors has decided to have another yard sale in the spring. Please look for our announcement in April with the date and contact information for those who would like to donate again. Thank you again for all of the support! — Tiffany Lessard, Treasurer

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Mark “Goldie” Tozier and Faye Sinclair-Tozier wish to thank each and everyone for the donated auction item, gifts, desserts and help of businesses, family and friends who made Mark’s benefit a great success on Oct. 23. Thanks to Monsta for music. There are just too many to name you all. Thank you and may God bless you all. — The Toziers, Dixfield
