DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for a copy of “100 Years of Rising with the Sun: Suntennial Celebration of the Lewiston Daily Sun, 1893–1993.” This was published by the Sun Journal in 1993. I would love to obtain a copy by Christmas for my mother. Please do not use my name as she reads the paper everyday! Thank you — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: I am very sorry to have to tell you that we are sold out of those. Perhaps a reader will have a copy they would be willing to part with?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m trying to locate a very nice lady who paid my father’s grocery bill Sunday morning at Hannaford. I hope she reads this and calls us at 784-8429. She should ask for Claudette. Goes to show you that there are still good people in this world. Thanks again. — C.T., Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: How would one be able to get addresses of servicemen serving in Iraq and Afghanistan for Christmas cards and gifts? Especially those that have no family and do not get any mail. Thank you for any and all help. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots answered a similar question about a month ago. The Red Cross sponsored a program for cards for wounded servicemen and women, but it is too late to participate for this year. The logistics of collecting, sorting and disseminating all that mail requires quite a bit of time. There used to be an address where you could write to “any soldier,” but that was eliminated due to fears of terrorism.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Like many other Lisbon residents I, too, bought a tanning package from Madison’s Tanning and Day Spa and never was able to use it.

About the time I got it was when things had to have been going bad, because some days there were employees there and some days there weren’t. A sign went up that said they were under new management, not new ownership. The woman who actually owns the place still owned it; there was somebody else attempting to run it for her, from what I understand.

The owner has decided to sell the building and apparently that’s why nobody is running the business, because the place is for sale. A few friends and I have been trying to call the place, and one of them did manage to get the owner on the phone.

Though she wasn’t really willing to speak to us or give us much information, it was related to us that the money we spent on packages and prepaid services would be reimbursed to us when the building sold. Whether that’s true or not I really don’t know. Lesson learned, I guess. I hope this helps some of you. — No Name, No Town

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for helping locate Kate Pastore. I had a real good experience with her. She trimmed mats from my cat Katey’s back in minutes compared to a “pro” who had me hold her down. Kate did it alone. She is very professional. I will keep her phone number for when I need her again. Thanks again. — Dennis, Lewiston

ANSWER: Sun Spots wonders if you named Katey after Kate?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: About a month or so ago, you printed a letter from someone who was inquiring about the former groomer at the Kennel Shop in Lewiston. That groomer contacted you and listed her name and number for any former clients who were interested in reaching her. I neglected to write it down and am asking for you to print that information again. Thank you for your help. — Sharon Henson, Litchfield
