Betty J. Martel

AUBURN — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Betty J. Martel was celebrated Tuesday, by Betty’s nephew, the Rev. James Martel at St. Philip’s Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. At the entrance to church, both Betty’s daughters, Jane Martel and June Roux placed the burial pall on their mother’s casket signifying their mother’s spiritual baptism to a new life. The first reading was done by Betty’s lifelong friend, Claire Naum and the second reading was done by family friend, Luanne Theriault. The prayer of the faithful was read by family friend, Robert Levesque. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Betty’s daughter, June Roux and Betty’s son-in-law, Dan Roux. Words of remembrance were shared by Betty’s daughter, Jane Martel at the conclusion of the Mass. All in attendance were then invited to a reception of fellowship at Fishbones Restaurant in Lewiston. Graveside committal prayers will be held later in the spring at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were Daniel and David Roux and Ben and Jake Theriault.
