WINTHROP — The winners of the statewide Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest, sponsored by the Maine District 41 Lions clubs, have been announced.

Madison Danforth, a student at Skowhegan Area Middle School, won first place; Hyewan Kim, a student at the Falmouth Middle School, was the second place
winner; and Reilly Romanski, a student at the Strong Elementary School,
was the third place winner in the statewide competition. 

Danforth’s poster was among more than 17 entries submitted by eight clubs in the annual poster contest. The poster was selected for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme, “The Power of Peace.” The judging was held on Nov. 27 in Winthrop.

One international grand prizewinner and 23 merit award winners will be selected. The grand prize includes a cash award of $2,500. plus a trip for the winner and two family members to New York City for the awards ceremony at Lions Day with the United Nations. The 23 merit award winners will each receive a certificate and a cash award of $500.
