OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Winter Carnival will feature a variety of events on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12 and 13.

The weekend will kickoff at 6 p.m. Friday with a variety show, offering
a free night of entertainment for the entire family, at the Otisfield Community School.

Saturday will start with a breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Spurr’s Corner Church. The menu will include scrambled eggs, bacon,
sausage, pancakes, juice and coffee. The meal is free, and donations
will be accepted. It is being sponsored by the church.

A free ice fishing derby will take place on Pleasant and Thompson Lakes
from 8
a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration, rules and
weigh-in will be at the New Outpost. No license is required as it is a
state free fishing day.

There will be skating and Olympic-themed games from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the town beach. Horse-drawn wagon rides through Seeds of Peace will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lunch at the beach, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include chicken
stew, corn chowder, hot dogs and beverages free. Donations will be
accepted.

Registration for the cardboard classic sled race will be held at 12:45 p.m. at the town office. Sleds needs to be built at home prior to the event. Participants will race their sleds down the hill at the town office at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.

Activities will continue from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the town office. There
will be make-and-take crafts, cookie decorating, sledding and free hot chocolate, sponsored by the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church.
