ORONO, Maine (AP) — The University of Maine has extended the contract of men’s hockey coach Tim Whitehead by three years.
Whitehead has been the team’s coach for nine years and had one year remaining on his contract.
Athletic Director Blake James said under the extension, Whitehead will receive a $5,000 annual raise he has received every year since signing his last contract after the 2003-2004. He is scheduled to make $180,000 next season.
As the Maine coach, Whitehead has a record of 199-126-36 with four appearances in the Frozen Four and two showings in the national championship game.
