The city of Lewiston should have a new name — the city of parking garages. At first, I couldn’t figure out why Lewiston would need another parking garage, especially way down on Lincoln Street. And then, going across the Longley Bridge, I saw the signs, “Vote yes on the Lewiston Casino.”

When Lewiston city officials cancelled the demolition of Bates Mill No. 5, I thought the idea of the casino was gone. I was wrong.

Putting a casino in Lewiston is a bad idea.
