Neighborhood picnic
AUBURN — The United New Auburn Association will host the New Auburn Neighborhood Picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Raymond Park.
There will be a barbecue, a bounce house for the kids and light refreshments.
Bridge play
LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on July 12 were as follows: first, Linda Leotsakos and Nancy Lindgren; second, Cynthia Clifford and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Dick Allen and Richard Balian; fourth, Martha Young and Roger Labbe; first in B, Della Starbird and Eileen Potvin; second in B, Ellie and Lindy Wigton.

Host families
LEWISTON — AYUSA Global Youth Exchange is currently looking for American families in Lewiston interested in housing high school students ages 15 to 17 from predominantly Muslim countries for the 2010-11 academic school year.
The program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, is called The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program. American host families will not only provide a home for students to immerse themselves in American society and values, but may also learn from the students about their countries and cultures.

Grange meeting
POLAND — Members of Excelsior Grange 5, 446 Harris Hill Road, will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 17, for a regular business meeting. Hobby Night will be observed during the lecturer’s program and anyone with a hobby of interest to the members should come prepared to explain it, with a display if possible.
Refreshments will be served following the meeting.
Painting with pastels
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free “Painting with Pastels” workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. Participants will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, July 19 and 26, at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room H.
Cancer survivor Selia Dubois and registered nurse Patricia Poulin will lead the group. Participants will be encouraged to express themselves and discover their inner talent. No previous art experience is necessary and sessions and space is limited to 15 participants.
