WELD — Private family committal services for Sally Grumman Root were held Monday morning at Mountain View Cemetery in Weld. A service of thanksgiving and remembrance, giving witness to the resurrection and celebrating her life, was held Monday at the Weld Congregational Church, with the Rev. Lawrence Harris, rector of St. Barnabas, Baltimore, Md., a longtime family friend, officiating.

Sam Sytsma was organist. Congregation hymns included, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God” and “Now Thank We All Our God.” Her son-in-law, Roy Littlefield III and her son, James Root, Jr., offered personal eulogies. Her grandson, Roy Littlefield, IV, lead the responsive reading, Psalm 23; granddaughter, Christy Littlefield, recited Psalm 103; grandson, Sterling Root, recited Ecclesiastes 3:1-8; prayers were offered by granddaughter, Courtney Root and Psalm 84 was shared by granddaughter, Haley Root.

Following services, the Weld Congregational Church Hospitality Committee hosted a reception in the church undercroft. Arrangements were in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, Wilton.
