100 years ago, 1910

At the regular August meeting, the Waseca Club of Auburn offered the use of its ball team to play a team an exhibition game, the  receipts to go to the Anti-Tuberculosis Association. A game will probably be arranged with the Ariels after the championship series and should secure a neat sum of money.

50 years ago, 1960

Lewiston Auto Sales, 810 Lisbon St., will hold an open house Thursday and Friday to introduce area residents to the new Swedish-built Saab for which it will be area dealer. Owner Richard Lussier announced that coffee, doughnuts and gifts will be distributed during the event. Doors will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The firm has been in existence for five years. The dealership will include all of Androscoggin County.

25 years ago 1985

Gowns belonging to Mrs. Hiram W. Ricker, wife of a son of the well-known Poland Spring House owner, will be seen once again on the resort grounds on Monday when Vivian Ricker of Auburn will present a 1890s fashion show.

The dresses will be shown preceding a silver tea in the Maine State Building that once served the resort as a library and art gallery.

Modeling the authentic gowns will be Cindy Ricker, Linda McMahon, Debbie Ricker, Barbara Gaudet, Lisa Perrault and Jane Terry.
