Soccer shoot

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Elks Lodge 371 will hold its annual soccer shoot program Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Auburn Middle School. Registration will begin at 9 am. with the event to follow. The contest is open to any youngster under the age of 14.

There will be a five-goal contest for children under 10 and each contestant will get three shots at small soccer goals of varying sizes. The competitor with the highest total score will win. For children age 10 to 13, a full-size goal will be used. Prizes will be awarded to the top shooters.

Parade

LEWISTON The fourth Great Falls Balloon Festival parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21. The theme is “Celebrating Maine Farms” and the grand marshal will be winners of the Balloon Festival poster contest. This year’s parade will also feature various mascots, themed floats, local bands, balloon pilots and crews and many other attractions.

Photos on display

LEWISTON — The works of Maine photographers John Galgano and Joy Ramsey are on display at the Central Maine Medical Center Woman’s Hospital Association Rotating Art Gallery.

Galgano is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and also attended the Art Institute of Boston. He has spent more than 30 years photographing the New England area. Ramsey is a self-taught photographer who has some 29 years experience. For the last eight years, she has focused exclusively on floral and landscapes.

Their photographs will be on display in CMMC’s Main Lobby corridor through Aug. 28.

Church event

WINTHROP — The Winthrop Congregational Church, UCC, will host the 23rd annual baked food sale and Lunches on the Lawn event on Saturday, Aug. 21. The food sale will start at 9 a.m. and a light luncheon will be served at 11 a.m. The lunch will include 100 percent lobster salad rolls, chicken salad rolls, Caesar salad wraps and fruit cups.

Rada cutlery and photo cards will be for sale and there will also be a downtown art show that day. All proceeds from the event will benefit the church.
