- Seven recent medical school graduates have joined the Central Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program. Comprising the program’s 33rd class of resident physicians are: from left, front, Gonzalo Ruiz, M.D., from Ross University School of Medicine; Michael Johns, M.D., Universidad Iberoamericana Medical School; Christopher Kitchens, D.O., University of New England College of Medicine; back, Adam Duquette, D.O., University of New England College of Medicine; Emily Fontaine, M.D., Ross University School of Medicine; Shayna Lemke, D.O., Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine; and Aila dela Cruz, M.D., University of the East Medical School. The new residents are providing care to patients and families at all stages of life at the Oscar Treat Turner Family Medicine Center at 76 High Street in Lewiston. They also care for patients at CMMC under the supervision of primary care doctors and subspecialist physicians. Physicians are required to complete a three-year post medical school residency program in family medicine in order to become board-certified family doctors.
