BUXTON, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a Cumberland County deputy used a Taser to subdue a knife-wielding Maine man who previously held police at bay with a rifle in a separate incident last May.

The sheriff’s department says deputies were called to assist Gorham and Buxton police in finding a man who’d crashed his car and was reportedly suicidal. Officials say one of the deputies quickly located 29-year-old Daniel H. Wolf II, who was carrying a knife and refused to drop the weapon.

The department says Wolf threatened officers before being subdued with a Taser on Monday.

In May, police used tear gas to force Wolf from his home after he threatened officers with a high-powered rifle in Standish. He was released from the jail and couldn’t be reached Wednesday.
