AUBURN — A bicyclist fell from his bike Saturday morning and was later taken to a Lewiston hospital, police said.

The man, who is reportedly in his 40s, was riding in a group of five bicyclists from Livermore shortly before 10 a.m. on Lake Shore Drive when he experienced a medical problem and fell off his bike, police said.

Police said they didn’t have the name of the stricken rider.

One of the riders in the group, a registered nurse, administered CPR before ambulance workers arrived. The man apparently had suffered from a previous heart condition, one of the riders said.

The man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for further treatment.
