1. Bangor (2-0) – From the Things We Don’t Say Every Year Department: Cony will be the toughest test to date for the reigning Eastern Class A champions.

2. Cheverus (2-0) – Beating the defending state champ Windham Eagles on their home field not a bad way to establish yourself as a favorite to succeed them.

3. Bonny Eagle (2-0) – Absolutely destroyed Portland, which was inexplicably (location, location, location) a trendy preseason pick to win it all.

4. Thornton (2-0) – Yes, you remember correctly: Trojans were unranked in our first poll of the season. We’re dumb.

5. South Portland (2-0) – Host Cheverus in the John Wolfgram Bowl this weekend.

6. Lawrence (2-0) – Eight quarters, no points. Cape Elizabeth and Lisbon are the only other teams in the state that can say it.

7. Lewiston (2-0) – Devils would be obliged if someone, anyone on their schedule would win a game. Any game.

8. Leavitt (2-0) – Hornets enjoying the annual name-your-final-score portion of the schedule.

9. Biddeford (2-0) – Pretty run-of-the-mill stuff from the Tigers so far, but they’re sort of like Notre Dame. Long as they’re undefeated, they’re ranked.

10. Mountain Valley (2-0) – Thornton, Winthrop only other teams to hit the century mark in the “points for” column through two weeks.
