LEWISTON — Maegon Mathon converted a pass from Kayla Hamel with five minutes left in the first half to give Lewiston a 2-1 victory over Erskine in a KVAC girls’ soccer tilt Tuesday.
Mathon also scored the Blue Devils’ first goal in a strong performance. Mackenzie Masselli made 14 saves for Lewiston (1-7) to notch the win.
Erskine received a lone unassisted goal from Amy Phillips, while Abby Peabody turned back six shots.
Rangeley 3, Buckfield 1
RANGELEY — Allie Hammond led a trio of players to register goals as Rangley hustled to a 3-1 victory over Buckfield in EWC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.
The Lakers jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the first half when Hammond scored with an assist from Emily Carrier. Sandra Campbell grabbed a cross from Morgan Rodway and fired it into the net to make it 2-1 before Carrier completed the scoring.
Taylor Bean made a successful debut in goal for Rangeley with seven saves to her credit. Danielle Patrie scored for the Bucks with 5:04 left in regulation to prevent a shutout.
Gray-New Gloucester 2, Wells 1
GRAY — Taylor Darnell scored a pair of goals Tuesday as Gray-New Gloucester hung on for a 2-1 victory over Wells in a WMC girls’ soccer match.
Darnell gave the Patriots a 1-0 lead in the first frame when she fired a shot to the right of Wells’ keeper. Darnell made it 2-0 just six minutes into the second half with an assist from Maggie Chaplin.
Sophie Lamb tallied for Wells with 3:02 left in regulation. Sammie Wilkens made four saves for Gray-NG to notch the win, while Kaitlyn Tufts of Wells turned back nine shots.
Hall-Dale 5, Mountain Valley 4 , OT
RUMFORD — Sara Price converted a pass from Kristina Buck with just two seconds remaining in overtime to lift Hall-Dale to a 5-4 victory over Mountain Valley in MVC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.
Carylanne Wolfington and Taylor Massey each scored two goals for the Bulldogs (5-3).
The Falcolns (3-4-1) received all four of their goals from McKenzie Paterson. Anais Truman made eight saves for Hall-Dale, while Breanna Roberts turned back 12 shots for Mountain Valley.
Mt. Blue 7, Skowhegan 1
FARMINGTON — Mackenzie Conlogue scored a hat trick to lead Mt. Blue to a 7-1 victory over Skowhegan in KVAC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.
The Cougars (4-2-2) scored all five of their first-half goals before the frame was 50 percent complete. Marina West tallied a goal in each half for Mt. Blue.
Zoe Pease notched the Indians (0-8) lone goal.
Goalie Andrea Quirion made 11 saves for Skowhegan, while Allison Brown and Avonlea Dwight shared keeper duties for Mt. Blue with one save apiece.
Brunswick 10, Oxford Hills 1
SOUTH PARIS — Senior Allison Walton and sophomore Rachel Maroney netted a hat trick each to lead Brunswick to a 10-1 rout over Oxford Hills in KVAC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.
The Dragons (8-0) fired 20 shots to two for the Vikings (2-6). Morgan Libby and Lyae Henshaw chipped in with a pair of goals each.
Senior Miriah Martin scored a second-half goal for Oxford Hills to spoil the Brunswick shutout attempt.
Goalies Breanna Martin and Samantha Hatch combined for 14 saves for Oxford Hills, while Lydia Caputi collected two saves to earn the win in net for Brunswick.
Jay 4, Monmouth 3
JAY — Alexi Deering scored the game-winning goal to lift Jay to a 4-3 victory over Monmouth in MVC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.
Jay tied the game on three occasions before Deering put the Tigers on top for the first time with the game-winning goal late in second half. Alanah White and Casidee Couture helped keep the Tigers’ hopes alive with each of their single tallies.
Ashley Coulombe collected a pair of first-half goals to put the Mustangs up 2-1 at the midpoint.
Goalie Kelsie Hilton made nine saves for Monmouth, while Beth Moore picked up the win with six saves.
Madison 3, Boothbay 1
MADISON — Nathalie Michaud scored a pair of goals and Kirsten Wood added another as Madison (4-4) booted Boothbay with a 3-1 victory in a girls’ soccer game.
Michaud wasted little time getting the Bulldogs on the scoreboard when she scored 25 seconds into the game. Boothbay was granted a penalty shot, which missed its mark and hit the crossbar.
Wood also picked up an assist, and Sam McLaughlin and Jen Brown were also credited with assists.
Field hockey
Messalonskee 10, Lewiston 0
LEWISTON — Katie Bernatchez led a trio of players with two goals as Messalonskee rolled to a 10-0 romp over Lewiston in KVAC field hockey action Tuesday afternoon.
Mara Balboni and Allie Deslisle also netted a pair of goals for the Eagles, while single tallies by Matty Kadner, Brie Warren, Maegan Pelletier and Brie Garland completed the scoring.
Abby Roberts made six saves to notch the shutout, while Allison Lafreniere turned aside 14 shots for the Blue Devils (2-7).
Skowhegan 5, Mt. Blue 0
FARMINGTON — Michaela Michonske netted a pair of goals Tuesday as Skowhegan hustled to a 5-0 victory over Mt. Blue in a KVAC field hockey matchup.
Sarah Finnemore, Jess Stellings and Mikayla Fitzmaurice also tallied for the undefeated Indians (9-0) to complete the scoring. Skowhegan jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half and cruised to an easy win.
Shelby Doert needed only four saves to record the shutout. Kasey Gaboury turned back 12 shots in goal for Mt. Blue (2-7).
