LEWISTON — The city is looking for a tree donation for the 4th Annual Twin Cities Holiday Celebration.

The tree will be cut and transported to Dufresne Plaza, formerly known as Courthouse Plaza, between Park and Lisbon streets in downtown Lewiston.

It will be decorated with lights and will be the destination for this year’s Parade of Lights, according to a statement from City Hall on Wednesday.

City Arborist Steve Murch is seeking a spruce tree that is between 35 and 45 feet tall. The tree should have a “good, full shape and a single stem,” the release stated.

Those interested should contact City Hall next week.

“The tree needs to be easily accessible; for example, not growing into power lines and not in a backyard, and it also needs to be located within the city of Lewiston,” the statement said.

Those interested in donating a tree should contact Murch at 513-3003, ext. 3443; TTY/TDD: 513-3007 or e-mail: smurch@ci.lewiston.me.us.

Murch will inspect trees and by mid-November the owner of the selected tree will be notified. The city will clean up the stump of the tree the following spring, according to the statement.
