DIXFIELD — Dixfield Fire Company will open station doors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, marking National Fire Prevention Week with talks and printed.

The Fire Prevention Open House is sponsored by the Dixfield and Peru fire departments.

Capt. Jason Hyde said Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey the Bear, along with games, will be available for children. A variety of brochures describing how to prevent wood stove and candle fires, as well as Christmas tree and Christmas light fire safety will be offered.

“If we don’t have it, we can answer questions or find the answers,” Hyde said.

Educational materials on electrical safety, carbon monoxide, and other safety matters will also be available.

A live demonstration on how to fight a grease fire will take place, and training on how to use a home fire extinguisher will be conducted by firefighters.

“This is all about the community,” Hyde said.

The event takes place at the end of National Fire Prevention Week.

The fire company has visited schools and will visit others in the area later in the month.
