1. Bangor (6-0) – Tests have been few, far between for Rams. They’ll get one at Lawrence this week.
2. Cheverus (6-0) – Stags enter their biggest game in two decades with No. 1 scoring defense in Western A.
3. Bonny Eagle (6-0) – Showdown Saturday at Cheverus? No sweat for the Scots. They’ve been here a few times.
4. Lawrence (6-0) – Bulldogs like to get early lead and run the other team into the ground. Remains to be seen if that approach will work against explosive Bangor.
5. Leavitt (6-0) – Hornets heard running-it-up accusations from Winslow coaches last year. Bad news for the Black Raiders: Most of the players on the field for Hornets in that fourth quarter are starting now.
6. Deering (5-1) – Rams were so good for most of the double-zero decade that it’s hard to picture them as a sleeper.
7. Lewiston (5-1) – Cony game might reveal what’s bigger: The gap between Devils and Bangor-Lawrence or the space between them and the middle of the PTC pack.
8. Mountain Valley (6-0) – Three regular-season games left. Twelve points allowed.
9. Thornton (5-1) – One-sided loss to Deering makes it tough to gauge the rest of the Trojans’ work.
10. Scarborough (5-1) – First time we’ve seen the Red Storm ranked this high since, well, before they were the Red Storm.
Player of the Week: Teven Colon, Edward Little – Colon rushed for 223 yards on only 11 carries, including touchdown runs of a 50 and 48 yards and another 64-yard jaunt, in the Red Eddies’ 42-0 rout of Skowhegan.
