1. Cheverus (7-0) — Fitting that special teams in win over Bonny Eagle elevates John Wolfgram and Stags to top spot.
2. Lawrence (7-0) — Guess we can call the Bulldogs a second half-team, no?
3. Bangor (6-1) — Rams didn’t have Josiah Hartley suited-up when they went to Fairfield. He could tip the balance in their favor if/when they meet again.
4. Bonny Eagle (6-1) — Interesting to hear Scots coach Kevin Cooper second-guessing himself about the punt that changed the game, but there was more than nine minutes left, Coach.
5. Leavitt (7-0) — Hornets get ready for the post-season with their biggest test of the regular season at Gardiner.
6. Deering (6-1) — Western A has five one-loss teams. Can Rams make it a half-dozen by upsetting Cheverus.
7. Lewiston (6-1) — Blue Devils bounced back in a big way with impressive win over Cony. Rival Edward Little will pose a tougher test, though.
8. Mountain Valley (7-0) — Stingiest defense in the state (12 points).
9. Thornton (6-1) — Rival Biddeford presents the Trojans’ biggest challenge of season from a SMAA South opponent this week.
10. Scarborough (6-1) — Talk about a turn-around season. Red Storm will go from 1-7 last year to 7-1 if they beat Kennebunk.
