PHILLIPS — A local man was arrested Friday after he allegedly threatened to kill a man and his dog with a gun when they walked by his residence, Franklin County Sheriff Lt. Niles Yeaton said.
Cpl. Stephen Charles arrested Archie Searles, 51, of Phillips, on a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon — a .22-caliber rifle, he said.
Searles was set to be released from Franklin County jail just after 7 p.m. on $200 cash bail, a corrections officer said.
The victim reported he was walking on Miles Square Road when the incident occurred, Yeaton said.
Five deputies responded to the scene after Searles went back into his residence, he said.
Searles was arrested without incident, Yeaton said.
He is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Dec. 17.
