LIVERMORE FALLS — No one was injured Sunday when a chimney fire extended into the second-floor walls at a residence at 171 Park St., fire Chief Gerry Pineau said.
About 35 firefighters from four towns responded to the chimney fire reported about 1:44 p.m. at Joe Chabot’s residence, he said.
When firefighters first arrived, they went to put out the chimney fire with a dry-chemical process but learned upon investigation that the fire had spread into the walls but did not break through, he said.
Pineau called in Jay and Livermore firefighters for manpower and engines, he said. Wilton firefighters stood by as a rapid intervention team in case firefighters fighting the blaze were hurt.
Pineau estimated less than 20 gallons of water were used to squelch the fire at the residence located at the intersections of Routes 133 and 17 and Foundry Road.
There was minimal damage, and the residence is livable, Pineau said.
