LEWISTON — Services in remembrance of the life of Roger A Bisson were held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Tuesday. The family extends their profound gratitude to all who expressed their condolences with their presence, flowers, cards, electronic messages and other expressions of sympathy. The family extends additional thanks to the members of the Lewiston Police Department community, both active and retired, who honored their departed brother, with special thanks to former police chief, the Honorable Laurent F. Gilbert Sr., Chief Michael Bussiere and Deputy Chief James Minkowsky for their personal condolences and for providing an Honor Guard. The members of the Honor Guard included Lt. Mark Cornelio, Sgt. Kelly Hamel, Sgt. David St. Pierre, Officer Mike Lacombe, Sgt. Marc Robitaille and Lt. Adam Higgins. This overwhelming expression of sympathy by the extended family of officers provided great comfort during this difficult time. At the funeral services that followed at Holy Family Church, all of Roger’s children and grandchildren contributed to the memorial service concelebrated by the Rev. Nathan March and the Rev. Albert Roux. His daughter, Linda Blais shared readings from the Bible. His grandson Matthew Bisson served as altar boy. During communion, his daughter, Tina Andrews and granddaughters, Aileen Andrews and Leah Bisson sang an acappella rendition of “Amazing Grace.” The gifts were carried to the altar by his daughter-in-law Susan Champagne and granddaughters Jocelyne and Emily Bisson. His sons, Gary and John Bisson offered their reflections on their father’s life. His older grandchildren served as pallbearers, Robert and Mark Blais, Austin (Sam) and Aileen Andrews, and Joshua and Leah Bisson. His brother, Stanley and son-in-law, Michael Blais, provided much needed comfort and support. Final respects were paid at the Saint Peter and Paul’s cemetery mausoleum. After the playing of “taps,” the United States flag was presented to Roger’s beloved wife of 55 years, Yvonne (Roy) Bisson with the thanks of a grateful nation by Sgt. Kristoffer Tardiff, Sgt. Augustine Hartman, and Specialist Peter Houghton, all members of the Army National Guard. Roger’s family wishes to thank all of his extended family of Roys, current and former neighbors and co-workers for the outpouring of sympathy and support that has meant so much during this difficult time. In addition and most especially, the family expresses it most sincere gratitude to Dr. Roger Austin and everyone associated with Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for their loving care and support through the ordeal of Roger’s final illness.
