OXFORD — Black Bear Entertainment, LLC announced it has hired Scott Smith as community development director.
“Scott will be the resort’s point man on the ground in Oxford County, the direct liaison with the community,” said Mark Robinson, a spokesman for Black Bear Entertainment.
“As the permitting and construction processes move forward, Scott will become the face of the organization, representing the investors, answering questions, trying to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. He’s a very affable guy, and will be a very valuable asset to the development,” Robinson said.
Born and raised in Oxford County, Smith brings more than 25 years of business experience to the resort casino’s team of professionals. Smith’s management experience ranges from successfully starting and operating Stone Mountain Mortgage for 12 years, to corporate management for several medium-sized banks.
Smith’s general assignment for Black Bear will be to foster long-term relationships. Smith and his wife, Jenna, own Rose Arbor Equine on Paris Hill, where they currently reside. He is the father of six children and has three grandchildren.
Black Bear Entertainment LLC is the private ownership group that plans to build a $165 million four-season resort and casino on Route 26 in Oxford.
