LEWISTON — Sara Marden poured in five goals and Lauren Lessard assisted on four goals to lead Lewiston to an 8-0 victory over Yarmouth in a girls’ hockey contest Monday.
The game was the home opener for the Blue Devils (1-1).
Lewiston started slowly, scoring just once in the first period when Allison Lafreniere took a pass from Lauryn Cote and beat Yarmouth goalie Gage Thurston at the 10:50 mark.
Marden then sparked a five-goal outburst in the second period, scoring the first two of the period in a span of 54 seconds and then completing the scoring by finding the back of the net with 12 seconds remaining in the period.
Natalie Rousseau and Tamara Roy also scored in the second period.
Marden, a senior at Lewiston, scored two more goals in a span of 54 seconds four minutes into the final period to round out the scoring.
Lewiston goalie Brianna Lajoie recorded the shutout.
Yarmouth falls to 0-2.
