LIVERMORE FALLS — A local man remained in an Auburn jail Tuesday, arrested Sunday after police followed footsteps to his residence.

A woman called police when she returned home Sunday and found that an entry door was damaged, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said. The woman called police and they investigated.

Officers Vernon Stevens and John Furr and Lt. Thomas Gould found footsteps that led to a River Road home and confronted Kenneth Drake, 18, Steward said. He was arrested on charges of attempted burglary and criminal mischief, the chief said.

Apparently, Drake had kicked the door but didn’t enter, Steward said. The door sustained $150 damage, he said.

Drake was taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn where he was being held on $1,000 cash bail, a corrections officer said Tuesday.
